Locations
Locations group the storage that you use to provide services to your partners and customers, so that you can organize it by datacenter or by region.
In Cyber Console, the Locations screen is under Settings > General settings > Locations. The screen shows the locations of your own tenant.
You can also open the locations of one client from the client details. On the Clients screen, open the client, and then go to Settings > Locations.
What a location holds
A location is a container that can represent anything that you choose. For example, a location can represent a datacenter or the geographical region of your infrastructure.
You can create any number of locations. A location can hold the following:
-
Backup storages
-
File Sync & Share storages
-
Disaster recovery infrastructures
-
VMware Cloud Director infrastructures
-
Cyber Frame clusters, each of which appears as a separate entry in the location
By default, backup storages are in Acronis datacenters. You can also add a backup storage in your own datacenter.
You cannot validate recovery points on the public cloud object storages that Acronis datacenters use, such as Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Storage. You can validate recovery points on a public cloud object storage that you use as a partner. However, avoid this validation, because it increases the egress traffic from the storage, and this traffic can lead to significant expenses.
The Locations screen
The screen lists the storages and infrastructures of each location. The Capability column names the service that each entry serves. For example, the capability can be VMware Cloud Director infrastructure or Cyber Frame Storage. To find an entry, search the list, or filter it by capability, inherited status, or occupied space.
A storage that a parent tenant owns shows Yes in the Inherited column. You cannot open, move, or delete an inherited storage.
If your role does not allow you to change locations, the Add button is disabled, and the row menu of a location is hidden.
Locations and customers
When you create a partner tenant or a folder, you can select several locations, and several storages per service in them. When you create a customer, you select one location, and then one storage per service in that location.
You can change a storage that is assigned to a customer only while its usage is 0 GB. The usage is 0 GB before the customer starts to use the storage, or after the customer deletes all recovery points from it.
Storage usage is not updated in real time. Allow up to 24 hours for the usage to update.
