Twitter phishing scams target verified accounts

Recent phishing campaigns are targeting verified Twitter profiles with convincing emails, enticing victims to provide their Twitter credentials — supposedly in order to fix a problem with their verification badge.

Twitter has over 360 million total users (more than 200 million of which are active) and almost 408,000 verified users. In this particular campaign, attackers send an email to verified users informing them of an alleged problem with their account. Victims are asked to click a "Check notifications" button that takes them to a fake login page where their user credentials are harvested.

The URL filtering capabilities included in Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud block access to known malicious websites, such as those used to harvest user credentials, while the Advanced Email Security pack prevents dangerous emails like these from ever reaching users' inboxes.
