100% Detection Rate, Zero False Alarms: Independent Lab Tests Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud

Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud
for service providers

With the end of April bringing the release of Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud, an innovative cyber protection product that delivers a unique integration of backup with full-stack next-generation anti-malware protection and comprehensive endpoint management tools, we were keen to see how it dealt with today’s cyberthreats.

We evaluated it in-house, of course, but we knew getting an independent, third-party opinion would be even more important. Enter AV-Test.org, the respected German security institute known for putting anti-malware solutions through their paces and posting their updated results on their website every two months.

In the case of Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud, the results of their independent testing were tremendous.

Perfect detection rate, no false alarms

In March 2020, AV-Test ran a pre-release version of Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud against their usual testing routine for anti-virus business solutions, which looks at protection, performance, and usability. In the case of Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud, AV-Test examined the effectiveness of protection against the most prevalent malware as well as the number of false reactions – where clean files are marked as malware or malicious marked as clean.

The test was carried out on Windows 10 Professional (English), (64-Bit). In the prevalent malware part, AV-TEST tested both the static and dynamic detection rates of Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud. A set of 6932 malicious Windows executable (PE) files was used to carry out this test. The files were first scanned with the on-demand scanner and then any files not detected during that scan were executed on a Windows machine to determine the dynamic detection rate.

Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud scored perfectly with a verified 100% detection rate.

The false-positive test was conducted with the on-demand scan and it contained about 180,000 files from benign third-party Windows applications. Again, Acronis delivered a perfect result, causing zero false positives.

Power of integrated cyber protection

While these excellent results for malware detection are a phenomenal accomplishment for our solution and our development team, it is important to note the real value of Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud is found in its deep integration of data protection and cybersecurity technologies.

Acronis recognizes that even with these test results, it is impossible to achieve 100% security at every moment in time. That means it is also critical to provide the best possible business continuity – so if a threat does slip through your security, you are able to restore affected data, applications, and systems quickly and effectively.

Only Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud successfully executes this approach. With one agent, we can deliver unique integration scenarios that minimize recovery times while giving additional insight into the threats. Continuous data protection backs up files of specific configurable extensions automatically every time the file is saved – so even if an attack were to get through, you can recover the absolute latest copy of your data. If a malware infection somehow makes its way into a backup file, Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud can scan the backup and remove the threat, ensuring your restore is malware-free.
