We’ve had a couple of busy weeks in mobility. We had two regional launches of mobilEcho and activEcho – one in Munich, Germany and the other one in Tokyo, Japan. Both of these speak to the global nature of the customer problems we are trying to solve with our mobilEcho and activEcho solutions – how do mobile workers safely access corporate content on their mobile devices, how do employees securely share and collaborate and files, and how do they get access to all their files across all their devices? This is what we do! Said more simply, we provide every time, everywhere access, sharing and syncing of the critical data that drives your enterprise. And, like I said, these are universal problems that cut across almost all vertical markets and job roles.
However, this is not done in isolation and we do not solve every mobility problem for our customers. But we do partner with other leading enterprise mobility solution vendors to provide customers with integrated solutions that address their specific needs. Our relationship with MobileIron is a great example of this. MobileIron is one of the largest and fastest growing Mobile Device Management (MDM) vendors. Last month we announced our support of MobileIron’s AppConnect system. In short, we are now able to provide customers the following:
“By integrating the secure mobile app and device management of MobileIron with secure mobile file management of mobilEcho, mobility IT groups are able to strengthen and standardize mobile app security and compliance, and configure apps from a central location. For users who have multiple business apps, this reduces risk as they no longer need to manage multiple apps or remember multiple passwords. App Connect allows the end user to have direct, secure access to the familiar, easy-to-use mobilEcho app through which IT can enforce the data-security and data-access rights required by their organization.”
And they also featured us in one of their video blogs that can be seen here.
MobileIron allows us to present an integrated solution to customers. MDM and Mobile File Management (MFM) are a few of the first things an enterprise will implement in order to ensure the management and security of their mobile devices and their critical content. They are extremely complementary solutions, and for my money, they are part of the “mobility stack” that every enterprise needs as part of their mobility strategy. (I stole the “mobility stack” idea from one of my colleagues.) In other words: where MDM exists, so does MFM, and vice versa.
