November 13, 2007, SALT LAKE CITY, UT, - Acronis (www.acronis.com/en-sg/), a provider of affordable, scalable storage management and disaster recovery software, expanded its association with the Salt Lake Community Action Program (CAP) Head Start Program by further upgrading its disaster recovery software.
Acronis, which has been providing Acronis True Image Server software to the educational program for children for three years, recently donated two additional copies of Acronis True Image 9.1 Enterprise Server and Acronis Universal Restore to protect the group's mission-critical servers.
Head Start is a comprehensive preschool program providing educational, nutritional, medical and social services to children and families living in poverty. Salt Lake CAP has administered the Head Start program in Utah's Salt Lake and Tooele Counties since 1965, and currently serves more than 2,000 children each year. This is one of the largest of the more than 2,700 Head Start programs in the country.
"Salt Lake CAP Head Start works with hundreds of families and our servers contain a lot of confidential information on both these families and our employees," said Matt Ulmer, IT Administrator for Salt Lake CAP. "These servers also manage billing and accounting functions. Knowing that our servers are protected by Acronis True Image gives us a lot of confidence that should anything happen to these computers, we will be able to restore them to new equipment quickly, regardless of where they are, the kind of hardware they will be on, or even if the systems will be physical or virtual. No matter what, we'll be up and running in no time."
"While Head Start might not be considered a 'first responder' in case of emergency, our families depend on us to provide important social services," Ulmer said. "Now we have the ability to continue providing services in minutes, not hours or days, if our computer systems suffer an unforeseen event such as a fire, storm or even a virus or accidentally deleted file."
"Acronis prides itself on being not only a good corporate neighbor, but also a good neighbor in general," said Walter Scott, CEO of Acronis. "Nothing is more important than our children, and being able to ensure that children get the services they need is indeed a most worthy endeavor. We're proud to support the good works of Head Start and look forward to working with this group for a long time to come."
