Acronis Assigns M-Link as Master Distributor and Exabytes as Designated Cloud Service Provider in Malaysia to Meet the Growing Demand for Complete Data Protection

M-Link and Exabytes will bring the benefits of Acronis complete data protection closer to Malaysian partners and customers through extended support, improved customer service, and local Malaysia-based cloud storage.

Sepang International Circuit, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - October 1, 2016 -Acronis, a global leader in hybrid cloud data protection, is pleased to announce the appointment of M-Link System (M) Sdn Bhd as Master Distributor and Exabytes as designated Cloud Service Provider to promote and distribute the complete set of Acronis' fastest and most innovative data protection products in Malaysia, including Acronis Backup 12, Acronis True Image, and Acronis Backup Cloud.

Under the new agreement, M-Link will be responsible for all marketing of Acronis' consumer and business products, and Exabytes will provide local cloud storage capacity and support for Acronis Backup Cloud, meeting the demand of Malaysian business and consumers for quality backup and recovery products.

To recognize the importance of this agreement, Acronis' Boston-based CMO and SVP Channel and Cloud Strategy John Zanni will travel to Kuala Lumpur to discuss the new marketing strategy and attend the Malaysia Formula One Grand Prix event together with the partners. This will be the sixth Formula One Grand Prix event since Acronis signed a long-term partnership agreement with Scuderia Toro Rosso, a company which, like Acronis, promotes technological innovation and teamwork around the world.

Partnerships with local companies like M-Link and Exabytes enable Acronis to transfer control over its business to local service providers, which corresponds to Acronis' customer focused hybrid cloud architecture, where local customers receive access to local cloud storage capacity to remain compliant with the national data protection regulations. Acronis also plans to extend its Singapore-based R&D activities to Malaysia, to attract local talent and extend local capabilities.

Malaysian partners and customers will have access to a complete set of fast and easy to use data protection solutions, including Acronis Backup 12, Acronis Backup Cloud, Acronis Monitoring Service, Acronis Storage, and Acronis Notary, which are based on the company's new hybrid cloud architecture to support data protection and recovery in virtually any IT environment.

The core product, Acronis Backup 12, provides the broadest range of data protection support for Microsoft infrastructure and applications, including Microsoft Exchange, Office365, SharePoint, Active Directory, Windows Server, Windows PC, Hyper-V, Azure, as well as Azure Stack upon its release to the market. Acronis Backup 12 is also the first commercially available solution to support the upcoming release of Microsoft Windows Server 2016, including Hyper-V with resilient change tracking (RCT).

With Acronis technology, Malaysian customers will also be able to develop resilience against ransomware. According to Vicente Diaz, Principal Security Researcher from Global Research & Analysis Team is ranked 44th out of 170 countries most affected by malware and is placed 24th worldwide for hosting more than one million notifications of malware. With the threat of malware, and specifically ransomware on the rise, reliable backup is the only way to recover without paying the ransom.
