Cyber Protection Week 2021: If it ain't broke, it still might need fixing

Acronis Cyber Protect
formerly Acronis Cyber Backup

Last year, Acronis launched Cyber Protection Week to highlight the problems personal IT users and IT professionals were facing while trying to protect modern data and devices with traditional backup and cybersecurity solutions. Today, in the wake of dramatic worldwide shifts due to COVID and our increasing reliance on data, these challenges have only grown.

Around the world, IT professionals reported a 6% increase in data loss leading to downtime compared to 2020. That’s an 18% increase over our 2019 findings. Similarly, personal IT users reported a 5% increase in permanent data loss over 2020 and an 8% jump from 2019. Despite all of the new technologies put in place, this problem isn’t going away. In fact, it’s getting worse.

This is because individuals and organizations still rely on traditional approaches and solutions, forming a patchwork of protection that doesn’t stand up to modern IT challenges. As we shared last year in our history of backup and storage infographic, the innovations that once kept people and organizations at the forefront of technology very quickly become obsolete. Counting on outdated solutions and approaches will always threaten the safety, privacy, and security of data.

It’s time to rethink how you approach cyber protection. Check out how to get started in our infographic below and share your cyber protection experience with #CyberFit or #CyberProtectionWeek.
