There’s more in that box (or download) than you may think!
A few weeks back I wrote about that sweet feeling you get when you learn something you already own does more than you knew it could. The reality is that Acronis True Image is more like a multi-purpose army knife. As I wrote in my previous post, yes, you get industry-leading backup solution. But when you peel back the cover, you’ll find out you have a bevy of other data protection tools. Though no bottle opener or scissors. Plus, you can carry Acronis True Image through airport security!
Here are some of those features included with our industry-leading backup tool:
Central dashboard – The dashboard allows you to view the status of all of your archives, syncs, and backups of all of the computers and mobile devices in your account from one place. Among the things you can do are checking the status of a cloud backup for one of your devices, securely inspecting the folders and files contained in a backup or archive or sync, or selecting a file and sharing it with others over the Internet.
Clone Disk – This is one of the most popular utilities that comes with Acronis True Image. Cloning copies the entire contents of one hard disk to another one. This copy includes all of the sectors, volumes, and data, not just files typically visible in an operating system “file copy” action. The destination drive doesn’t even have to be the same size as the one from which you are cloning. This is an excellent tool to install a larger hard drive on a computer or to finally make that move to a solid state drive (SSD) while keeping your current setup and data intact.
Try and decide – This is a capability that allows you to try new software, drivers, system updates, and to open email attachments from unknown senders and be able to recover to the point before these actions were taken, should you need to. This is a much more robust utility than a Windows restore point, in that if you decide to “roll back”, the point to which you return will be an exact sector-by sector match with the information on your computer as it existed prior to the update or change you tried on your computer.
Acronis Universal Restore – A major superpower of Acronis True Image is its ability to restore a fully bootable back up from one computer to a different physical computer. Universal restore works even if the other computer has different hardware than the source system from which you backed up or is from an entirely different manufacturer.
Why is this significant? If you just try to simply restore a disk image to a computer of dissimilar hardware, it won’t boot. This is because the new hardware won’t have the same driver setup as contained in the backup image. Acronis Universal Restore comes to the rescue by addressing that driver issue and allows you to recover to a system with different hardware and successfully boot it to a completely working state.
Sync – This feature is really cool. It allows you to synchronize all of the file activity in a folder to the cloud to access from the web portal or to sync to another authorized computer.
What does that mean in the real world? You can work on files in a folder, and ensure that there is always an up-to-the-minute replica of that work in the cloud. And you can roll back (or “revert”) to a previous version of a file!
Remember, you are your family’s data protector. Help them learn how to protect their precious files, photos, documents, and computer setups. Keep this multi-purpose backup tool in your pocket.
In Part 2, we’ll tell you about the rest of the cool stuff you get, right in the box or download of Acronis True Image!
