Video Gaming Technology taps Acronis for disaster recovery, server cloning

Video Game Manufacturer Standardizes on Acronis True Image Enterprise Server

June 28, 2005, South San Francisco, CA — Acronis, Inc., the technological leader in storage management software, announced that Video Gaming Technologies (VGT), Inc., of Roebuck, SC, is standardized on Acronis True Image Enterprise Server for its disaster recovery, networked server backup and disk cloning solutions. VGT is the manufacturer of computerized video games, such as Las Vegas-style blackjack and video slot machines, generally found in casinos.

"VGT needed a solution that could quickly and accurately clone servers for deployment to the field," said John Plunkett, the information systems director at VGT. "We also were looking for a backup and recovery solution for our enterprise servers. We reviewed a number of other imaging products, in addition to shareware and freeware alternatives. Acronis was quick and worked without any flaws; it surpassed our expectations.

"Acronis True Image Enterprise Server meets all of our requirements and now resides on 10 of our 40 enterprise servers, including our mission-critical servers.," he added. "We can now clone servers for deployment in a few hours, rather than a few days. We also have peace of mind, knowing that each server running the solution can be restored within hours, in case of failure."

"Overcoming disaster recovery and disk cloning bottlenecks, as well as providing world-class technology, service and support, are the hallmarks of Acronis," said Max Tsypliaev, CEO of the company. "Enterprise IT directors and chief information offices know that Acronis stands for quality and works diligently with its partners and customers to develop products that meet the demanding requirements of industries ranging from gaming to manufacturing."

"Acronis is a strategic partner for each of our enterprise customers," added Stephen Lawton, Acronis director of marketing. "We view every enterprise as its own challenge with its own special requirements. There are no cookie-cutter solutions where one size fits all. Each IT director has specific needs and desires, and it is our responsibility to meet each need for each unique environment."

Terms of the agreement were not released.
