Ransomware hits Missouri Delta Medical Center, patient records stolen

The Missouri Delta Medical Center has confirmed that they suffered a ransomware attack last week, and the Hive cybercrime group is claiming responsibility. While the infection vector has not yet been disclosed, Hive has successfully used malicious emails in the past for incursion purposes.

About 400 GB of data was stolen in the attack, including 95,000 patient records. Naturally, these contain highly confidential information, including patients' names, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, and personal medical details. The Missouri Delta Medical Center said that the cyberattack did not affect any critical systems, nor their ability to treat patients.

The Active Protection in Acronis Cyber Protect stops Hive ransomware from executing on your systems, while Acronis' Advanced Email Security pack prevents malicious emails from ever reaching your users' inboxes to begin with.
