Your digital life – protected

Dual Protection

When you lose data, having access to a reliable copy is the only way to recover it. If your hardware fails, having a local copy on an external hard drive makes recovery fast. But if your computer and that local backup are destroyed in a fire, having an online backup guarantees you won’t lose anything.

Local backups combined with online backups deliver the peace of mind of Dual Protection. Acronis makes it easy and efficient by automatically replicating local backups in the cloud.

Dual Protection

3-2-1 Backup Strategy

If you really want to avoid losing data, the experts agree that the 3-2-1 backup strategy is the most effective approach. It’s the only way to guarantee that you’ll have a safe copy of your data to use when you need to recover – no matter what happens.

Automate Your Off-Site Protection

Despite its clear benefits, 90% of individuals recently reported they do not use a combination of local and online backup. As the only personal backup solution that can automatically replicate local backups in the cloud, Acronis True Image 2020 makes it easy to adopt the 3-2-1 strategy.

Dual Protection is an easy, efficient way to eliminate the headaches of managing two plans and avoid wasting time creating two separate backups. Simply complete the first backup and in the future the local backup and replication will occur simultaneously.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Should every backup be in the cloud?

In many situations, if you just want a fast way to recover lost data, using a local copy of your backup can be preferable since the connection to a USB, external hard drive, or NAS storage device provides a faster speeds than downloading from the cloud.

However, if a backup is important enough to have, it is important enough to create a version in your online backup. By sending a full image backup of your PC or Mac to cloud storage, you’re ensuring that you have a reliable copy of your data available if something happens that can destroy both the original data and the local backup – such as a fire, flood, or computer virus.

  • What’s the difference between online backup and backup replication?

When you create an online backup of your system, you’re sending a full image backup of your PC or Mac to cloud. If you want a local copy of that full image backup, you need to specify a local storage destination and create another copy of that backup. Creating a local backup and online copy are two distinct steps that run separately – one followed by another.

With Dual Protection, you are creating a backup for your local destination, but behind the scenes Acronis True Image is simultaneously replicating that backup in the cloud. Both processes occur in parallel – saving you time and effort.

  • Is the Dual Protection feature available for Acronis True Image 2020 Basic?

No. All cloud-based features of Acronis True Image, including Dual Protection, require a subscription to either the Advanced or Premium version of the product.
