Acronis sponsored field hockey team Servette HC to host this year’s EuroHockey Club Challenge I

In 2017 Servette HC, a Genevan field hockey team, won the prestigious EuroHockey Club and is now to host the competition in Geneva. Acronis will further support the team this year as part of its Swiss activities.

SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland, 25 April 2018– Acronis, a global leader in hybrid cloud data protection and storage currently celebrating its 15-year anniversary, is happy to announce the extension of its sponsorship of the field hockey team Servette HC. The team won its first match of 2018 against the Black Boys Hockey Club 2:6, which strengthens Servette HC’s lead in the National League’s 2017/2018 season.

The highlight of last year’s season was the win of the EuroHockey Club Challenge in Gibraltar. As the current champion, Servette HC will defend its title when it hosts this year’s EuroHockey Club Challenge from May 18 to May 21 in Geneva.

Team sponsor Acronis is happy to support the Swiss team throughout the season, especially since Acronis is looking forward to its own highlight this year: the company’s15thanniversary, which will be marked by a gala at their corporate headquarters in Schaffhausen, Switzerland.

Acronis and Servette HC

Acronis has been sponsoring the field hockey club from Geneva, the second largest club in Switzerland, since 2016. While the team is trained by a professional coach, it only consists of young, talented, and ambitious amateurs – not professional players. Yet this does not mean the players treat their sport as a hobby, though. They train just as hard and have a will to win that’s as strong as any other team in the Swiss National League.

Field hockey is an extremely agile sport that demands quick actions and tactical thinking. Team spirit, resiliency, a desire to win, and a passion for perfection are what needed to be successful. These same characteristics are critical in order for businesses and products to succeed in the IT industry, and they are the values that unite Acronis and Servette HC.

“We are proud to support Servette HC again this year”, said John Zanni, President at Acronis. “Hockey is an interesting sport that may look easy at first sight, but it demands complex skills and expertise of all who play. This is where we see similarities to what we do at Acronis. Behind the easy-to-use interface of our products lies cutting-edge technologies such as Acronis Active Protection, our artificial intelligence-based anti-ransomware defence.”

As part of the partnership, Acronis provides all team members of Servette HC with Acronis True Image Premium licences to protect the private data of all players.

Acronis‘ focus on Switzerland

Acronis’ Swiss headquarters in Schaffhausen is of utmost importance to the company. As the company celebrates its 15thanniversary this year, the role of its Swiss headquarters (which was established more than a decade ago) has become even more important. Being based in this location gives members of the executive team such as President John Zanni the global perspective needed to enhance the company’s position worldwide.

Given the importance of its Swiss headquarters, Acronis naturally supports local organisations to show its commitment the region and to be a contributing member of the community.

“We congratulate Acronis on 15 successful years in the IT industry,” said Nicolas Gisin, Honourary President of Servette HC. “Personal commitment, drive, and striving for success are values that we share with Acronis. We are happy to see that Acronis is expanding its presence in Switzerland, which deepens our partnership. With Acronis as our main sponsor, we are looking forward to a successful season and hope to win this year’s EuroHockey Club again.”
