Data breaches and data loss are serious problems for any modern organization. For organizations in particularly sensitive fields – including national security, industrial, and financial services, where any intrusion or data compromise is unacceptable – preventing them becomes absolutely essential. To ensure this high level of data privacy and security, many organizations in these fields rely on ‘hardened’, air-gapped networks that reduce the environment’s attack surface by physically isolating it from other networks, the public internet, and outbound connections to integrations or online services.

Unfortunately, however, this isolation also limits the solutions that high-sensitivity organizations can introduce to help with daily operations. To close this gap and protect mission critical assets and data without adding unnecessary complexity, today Acronis announced the launch of Acronis Cyber Backup SCS Hardened Edition.

“Modern organizations are well aware that today’s threat landscape is increasingly sophisticated and dangerous. For organizations in especially sensitive fields, dealing with especially sensitive data, informational security is not only important – it’s essential,” said Acronis Founder and CEO Serg “SB” Bell. “With our new hardened solution, these organizations gain the robust cyber protection capabilities that Acronis is known for, with specialized cybersecurity enhancements to ensure all of their workloads are protected.”

This new solution represents the organization’s first full disk image backup solution designed specifically for air-gapped networks in national security, industrial, and financial organizations as well as weapon testing sites, development labs, training simulators, deployed military elements, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and industrial control systems.

Proven security that you can trust

Based on the same code as Acronis SCS’ own Department of Defense Information Network Approved Products List (DoDIN APL) certified solution, Acronis Cyber Backup SCS Hardened Edition features FIPS-validated encryption and RSA key generation, as well as Intel-pioneered, hardware-based random number generation methods to ensure maximum entropy. Already the hardened backup solution has earned Common Criteria certification and is on its way to earning FIPS 140-2 certification, as well.

What’s more, all of Acronis Cyber Backup SCS Hardened Edition’s defensive capabilities have been reviewed and tested by third-party organizations prior to release to ensure that potential users can depend upon the protection offered by the solution.

Easy to use, easy to manage

In addition to enhancing the security of networks, Acronis Cyber Backup SCS Hardened Edition minimizes the time IT teams previously spent on tedious operational tasks, addressing false alerts, and responding to failed outbound communications – common issues for organizations that historically applied non-hardened solutions to air-gapped networks.

Like all Acronis Cyber Protection solutions, Acronis Cyber Backup SCS Hardened Edition delivers comprehensive protection for critical workloads easily, efficiently, and securely. For IT teams at organizations with highly sensitive data, this offers a clear benefit, particularly when it comes to backup and recovery operations that touch everything in a network – from endpoints and storage to file shares and servers.

“Our new solution streamlines backup and recovery operations,” said Gaidar Magdanurov, Chief Cyber Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Acronis. “IT personnel can now regain hours of time they previously spent responding to failed connections and false alarms.” With this solution in place, organizations that create, store, or rely upon highly sensitive data can more reliably protect their networks without needing to open their environments to any outside influence or interference.
