The worldwide technology trade show circuit is in full swing, but there's one show that's in a class all to glimpse the future of high-tech and IT: CeBIT. The annual confab attracts thousands of attendees and exhibitors every year who are eager to experience the latest and greatest technologies that will disrupt how we live and work. The Acronis team was on hand yet again this year.
The spectacle — and the beautiful spring weather — did not disappoint. One of the biggest themes at CeBIT this year? The Robots are Coming
Wherever you go at CeBIT, you're bound to encounter robots. They're a crowd pleaser, after all. This year's specimens included a robot, Charlie, designed for exploration in extreme environments like space. Another robot, the life-sized RoboThespian, welcomed conference-goers, including UK Prime Minister David Cameron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The talk of the conference, however, was the pair of pole-dancing robots, a CeBIT mainstay since 2012.
Connected Devices Hit the Road
The Internet of Things is in full swing — and vehicles are one of the next places where IoT meets our personal lives. Volkswagen called for more collaboration among technology vendors and automakers to help digitize the driving experience. But the auto giant wasn't the only company this week talking about the intersection of cars and connectivity. This week, Apple released CarPlay, a much-anticipated feature of iOS 7.1 that connects users' iPhones and iPads to vehicles' entertainment systems. One big consequence of the Internet of Things in our vehicles? The loads of data that will need to be processed, stored and protected.
Even Chuck Norris Can't Stop BYOD
Another big theme at CeBIT? The blurring lines between our working and personal lives. IT pros the world over are contending with the mobile challenges that BYOD has created. The Acronis team posted up at CeBIT to demo Acronis Access, our recently released service that helps employees collaborate and share information from anywhere without sacrificing security or control.
