BlackCat gang lets potential victims check for their stolen data

The BlackCat extortion gang, also known as ALPHV, has taken the data leak site to a whole new level — providing a way for individuals to check if their personal information was included in batches of stolen data.

BlackCat launched the site with information they claim was part of 112 GB of data stolen from a hotel and spa in Oregon, including the personal details of employees and guests. The allegedly stolen data includes names, dates, and receipts of guests, as well as the names, Social Security Numbers, dates of birth, and other personal information relating to 1,534 employees.

Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud keeps data and systems safe from ransomware like BlackCat, with threat-agnostic defenses that detect and block even brand-new cyberthreats based on the malicious behaviors they exhibit.
