Patch Tuesday update includes fixes for critical vulnerabilities

Microsoft's Patch Tuesday for October fixes four zero-days and 81 flaws, including some for Microsoft Edge. OpenOffice and LibreOffice are each receiving three separate patches for similar issues.

Three critical vulnerabilities are being patched by Microsoft — including one for Win32k, a Windows driver, which can lead to elevation of privilege and is actively being exploited. The vulnerabilities for both office suites are still being graded in terms of severity but could be critical.

Whether it's Microsoft's regular Patch Tuesday update or an emergency fix for any other product you use, new software patches are released all the time. Cybercriminals are constantly exploiting vulnerabilities and zero-day threats, so it's important to keep systems  up-to-date.
