Palermo, a city of 1.3 million people and a popular tourist destination in Southern Italy, has become the latest victim of a Vice Society ransomware attack.
The municipality reported that they had shut down several systems in order to protect the network and data from further damage. According to initial reports, outages includes video surveillance system and some police services. Authorities have not yet shared further details on the breach, but the Vice Society gang is known for exploiting unpatched vulnerabilities of exposed services.
