Void Balaur cybercrime gang steals data from the shadows

The cyber-mercenary group known as Void Balaur has spent the last several years collecting data — a lot of it — and selling it to anyone willing to pay.

In addition to seeking out large or interesting data collections, Void Balaur has been explicitly targeting high-profile victims, including government officials, in countries around the world. The group's M.O. seems to be the use of phishing to collect user credentials, followed by use of these credentials to steal any data they can get from the victims' email accounts. In some cases, the group has offered up full dumps of email boxes for sale.

Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud with Advanced Email Security scans all incoming emails for indicators of phishing and other malicious content, preventing users from ever seeing such messages in the first place.
