Windows Server updates break RRAS connections

The June 2022 cumulative updates for Windows Server have caused trouble for administrators of servers that have Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS) enabled.

After installing the update, administrators are finding that RDP and VPN services are no longer functioning, requiring RRAS to be disabled at startup to maintain these access methods. Another issue that has been seen is an inability to make a backup with any solution that uses Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) in its backup process.

Before updating any system, creating a proper backup is a critical step to allow a quick restore to a functioning state if the update breaks critical functionality.

Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud includes a simple backup solution that allows you to quickly restore to a known working state in the event of faulty updates that break critical functionalities.
