Acronis is constantly evolving and expanding our suite of cyber protection solution to meet an ever-changing threat landscape. Sometimes our evolution is facilitated through our own innovations. Other times, we see a vendor who already has an effective solution and consider acquiring them.
Today, we are announcing the latter with Acronis’ acquisition of DeviceLock, a leading provider of endpoint device/port control and data loss prevention (DLP) software for enterprises and government institutions around the world.
Leader in endpoint data loss prevention
Founded in 1996, DeviceLock is an established leader in endpoint data loss prevention, with over 5,000 corporate customers relying on their solutions to protect more than 4 million endpoints. The company enjoys a global customer presence across a wide variety of organizational types, including banking and finance, government and defense, medical, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and retail.
Nearly two-thirds of serious data leaks are internal in origin — caused by employees, contractors, or visitors — whether accidental or due to malicious intent. DeviceLock’s software is designed to stop such leaks at the source, with top-class protection of valuable data against insider threats.
Preventing data leaks from the organizational side is a tremendous fit with Acronis’ commitment to protecting all data in all locations with easy, efficient, secure cyber protection solutions.
Acronis and DeviceLock — better together
Acronis and DeviceLock are already united by a shared mission of providing data security and privacy to organizations around the world. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Acronis, DeviceLock’s technology will be integrated into the Acronis Cyber Platform, making new services available through the Acronis Cloud Solutions portal.
DeviceLock’s founder and CTO Ashot Oganesyan sees a winning combination between Acronis’ status as an innovator and leader in cyber protection solutions with a vast network of IT channel partners, and DeviceLock’s own expertise in device control and endpoint protection:
“By merging with Acronis, we can accelerate product innovation, expand our distribution channel, and leverage our existing technology to meet customer requirements … We are certain that this acquisition will protect millions more users and ensure secure and reliable data protection deployments worldwide.”
By offering DeviceLock’s solutions to Acronis’ community of 50,000 partners, service providers will be able to better manage their clients’ data protection needs. Acronis founder and CEO Serg “SB” Bell notes that this acquisition helps Acronis and its partners rise to meet the challenges of an evolving IT market:
“By adding DeviceLock’s solutions to our portfolio of cyber protection products and services, we’re giving our partners and customers an easy way to deliver an unprecedented level of functionality among endpoint DLP solutions in an affordable price range. We are looking at both developing new solutions internally, as well as acquiring additional leading vendors to add even more capabilities to our existing repertoire. The world of IT security is always changing, and we are determined to continue evolving our solutions to meet the ever-changing needs of the market.”
The #CyberFit future of DeviceLock
Going forward, Acronis will continue to enhance our world-class cyber protection offerings by adding additional capabilities that help us to transform the industry.
Our MSP-driven solutions, already best-in-class, continue to grow as we expand the services offered through the Acronis Cloud Solutions portal through acquisitions just like this one. And for DeviceLock’s existing customer base, we’ll continue to work on new versions of DeviceLock DLP while maintaining full technical support.
