April 11, 2006, Burlington, Acronis, Inc. (www.acronis.com), the technological leader in storage management software, announced the latest upgrade to Acronis Disk Director Server and Acronis Disk Director Suite are now shipping. The latest release adds support for 64-bit Windows, which Microsoft began shipping last year.
"Adding support for 64-bit Windows is invaluable for corporate users that require all new applications support 64-bit Windows," said Max Tsypliaev, chairman of Acronis. "The industry trend to 64-bit computing demands 64-bit computing and Acronis delivers.
"Acronis Disk Director Server is the natural companion to the Acronis True Image corporate products announced last month," he added. "Not only can we now back up and restore systems running 64-bit Windows, but we also can conduct such disk management tasks as adding or removing partitions, resizing partitions, and recovering lost or accidentally deleted partitions."
"The sale of systems using 64-bit CPUs is skyrocketing," added Stephen Lawton, marketing director at Acronis. "Gamers and other consumers who require leading-edge technology have embraced the 64-bit AMD and Intel chips. Some corporate users are future-proofing their IT departments by requiring that all new applications support 64-bit Windows. There is no question that 64-bit technology is the future, and Acronis is delivering 64-bit solutions today."
Users who have current, registered versions of the software can upgrade to 64-bit support at no charge.
Acronis Disk Director Server and Acronis Disk Director Suite are currently being shipped. The Server version lists for $499; the consumer version lists for $49.99. Download information is available at http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/support/updates/.
