Fentura Financial Banks on Acronis True Image for Disaster Recovery of Servers, Workstations

Michigan Banking Group Now Performs Individual File Restores in Two Minutes; Bare-Metal Server Restore in 15 Minutes

August 24, 2006, Burlington, MA — Acronis, Inc. (www.acronis.com), the technological leader in storage management software, today announced that Fentura Financial Inc., a bank holding company with assets of $550 million, has applied Acronis True Image as the primary data recovery solution for its network of community banks. Acronis True Image enables Fentura to restore workstations and servers within minutes and has become Fentura's first line of defense against costly downtime.

"In the banking industry, where data literally translates into dollars and cents, we needed a solution that can pick individual or specific files, rather than a whole tape's worth, so that we can get up and running quickly in the event of a disaster. Acronis does that and more, restoring us quickly, easily and specifically to our needs," said Brian Minca, Fentura Financial Inc.'s network services officer. "Acronis has already proved its worth and exceeded our expectations by recovering a corrupted Web server configuration file within two minutes. This is no easy task, considering the specialized banking applications we use."

Fentura used Acronis True Image Corporate Workstation and Acronis True Image Enterprise Server with virtually no user training on six workstations and 40 servers, which represent 100 percent of file servers at the bank. Although Fentura still maintains and stores offsite backup tapes for long-term disaster recovery, immediate fixes are done with Acronis True Image. This enables Fentura to reboot its servers and get back up and running within seven minutes, and recover an entire server from a bare-metal restore situation in 15 minutes, Minca said. "It's a much more timely solution than waiting for a full tape restore and server reboot in order to access critical information."

"Businesses such as Fentura Financial Inc. are realizing that backing up their systems is just one step in being prepared for a disaster," said Walter Scott, Acronis CEO. "In a real disaster situation, quick recovery of business-critical data is crucial, and Fentura has proven that Acronis True Image is an enterprise-class solution that solves such problems quickly and without incurring significant incremental costs, such as lost transactions. In the banking business, time literally is money."
