Data Protection

It’s never been easier for businesses to take advantage of the data security and other benefits the cloud delivers. Indeed, today the security, cost-effectiveness and easy scalability of the cloud compels companies to seek out and leverage solutions – which is driving tremendous growth in data center usage. In fact, the seventh annual Cisco Global Cloud Index report projects that by 2021, 94 percent of workloads and compute instances will be processed by cloud data centers and 73 percent of those instances will be in public cloud data centers.

When it comes to cloud storage, the landscape is nuanced. Companies have different requirements – from how much businesses need, to where data is stored, and beyond – which makes a one-size-fits-all option quite challenging. To meet varying needs, business growth requires data-storage choice. The good news is that delivering such choice means business opportunities for IT service providers, provided they have the right partnership in place.

Acronis True Image 2019 Cyber Protection

There are few constants in the world. The sun will rise in the east. Rain will fall. Dropped toast will always land buttered-side down. And as quickly as technology advances, the threats to the data we rely on every day evolve as well.

While it is difficult to imagine every potential data loss event, since our founding 15 years ago, Acronis has gotten very good at anticipating and responding to threats so customers are always protected. Every solution Acronis offers is designed with the Five Vectors of Data Protection in mind – ensuring data is Safe, Accessible, Private, Authentic and Secure. We remember it by its acronym: SAPAS.

This week’s update for Acronis True Image 2019 is the latest addition to our SAPAS-defined protection portfolio.

Acronis Data Cloud 7.8 Enhances Cyber Protection

When they first set out to build Acronis Data Cloud our engineers asked themselves: What if MSPs could work with a single data protection platform that’s easy to use, efficient and secure, which evolves with technological advances and threats to data safety alike? Certainly no small task, last year they answered that question by delivering Acronis Data Cloud, the first single, turnkey SaaS solution that delivers multiple data protection solutions in one.

Now the challenge we embrace is to continue evolving the Acronis Data Cloud platform to meet end-user customer demands. Today we are excited to announce that version 7.8 is live with more than 80 new features and improvements. Here’s a closer look at five essential enhancements that benefit end-users and help MSPs take their cloud data protection business further.

Guest Blog: Multi-cloud interoperability

Multi-cloud is defined as an approach that combines more than one cloud (public or private), from more than a single cloud vendor. However, this is not an aggregation of various services from different vendors, it requires a mandatory glue - cloud-agnostic approach with interoperability across all providers. In this guest blog from Jelastic, we look at what challenges can be faced while multi-cloud implementation, and how to achieve the required interoperability.

Acronis Announces Partnership with Microsoft AzureIn the latest move to continually increase choice and flexibility to its customers and service partners, this week Acronis announced a new strategic partnership with Microsoft for deeper integration of Acronis’ data protection products with Microsoft’s Azure cloud services. The partnership will provide expanded access to the public cloud platform, giving customers another option for their backup storage and disaster recovery.

As a result of the partnership, customers and service providers will be able to store their data or clients’ data in the Azure cloud more easily. That’s because Azure will be available as a possible storage destination in future versions of Acronis products, appearing alongside our own secure Acronis Cloud and other public cloud vendors.

The partnership expands the capabilities Acronis already delivers to those who rely on Azure.

Google fined $5 billion as the EU flexes its regulatory muscles

On July 18, an announcement flashed across the internet that the European Union (EU) slapped Google with a $5 billion antitrust fine for bundling its products into its popular Android phones. Although this may not seem relevant to small business owners who have European customers, this penalty incorporates two valuable lessons as the new era of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) enforcement unfolds.

Here’s why your business should be paying attention.

Cyanweb Solutions taken down in online attack

Cyanweb Solutions taken down in online attack

On June 27, 2018, Australian web and IT services provider Cyanweb Solutions experienced a data terrorist attack: the stuff of business nightmares. A coordinated attack against the Perth-based company deleted all but 12 percent of the client data stored on its cPanel administrative server.

As a company that not only designs websites but acts as an in-house IT department and online marketing advisor to its business customers, the attack’s speed and sophistication is a reminder that even the savviest technology companies are at risk.

Thankfully, you have more control over your information than you realize.
