Acronis launches free deduplication as part of its disaster recovery offering

Free Deduplication Special Limited Time Offer

Burlington, Mass., January 27, 2010 - Acronis (www.acronis.com) is offering its Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Deduplication solution for free* as part of a campaign to help businesses reduce their overall storage costs. Users are entitled to a free deduplication licence with every advanced edition of its Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 software purchased.

With deduplication, businesses may cut storage requirements by up to 90 percent by eliminating backup copies of redundant data, Acronis helps organizations to reduce costs and improve efficiencies. Acronis has over 22,000 deduplication installations worldwide and now is seeking to extend deduplication savings to more customers.

To demonstrate the savings that can be made from deduplication, Acronis has created a free ROI calculator. For example, a customer with 10 servers and 2TB of data that changes 5 percent per day and is kept for four weeks, will save more than $20,000 in storage costs annually by employing deduplication. The savings are calculated by the number of servers and workstations being backed up, the data change rate, and the cost of data storage. Using the calculator, the user can get an estimate of how much storage space could be saved through deduplication, the financial savings, and the percentage of savings.

Deduplication may dramatically reduce the cost of storage requirements, but the expense of managing storage can be as much as four times the pure hardware, software and other tangible costs, therefore it is critical that an organization also analyses the overall costs of their storage infrastructure.

"Acronis provides data backup and deduplication, and system recovery in one single solution, helping customers address their disaster recovery strategy from a central management console. Acronis delivers what a customer requires for their storage infrastructure, without the overhead of managing multiple solutions," said Isvet Laclaustra, Sr. Systems Engineer and Chief Trainer for Infologic, an Acronis Gold Partner.

"By integrating data deduplication into the backup process, Acronis brings deduplication benefits to organizations. Customers can benefit from storage cost savings without any additional hardware investment or management overhead," said Ismail ("Izzy") Azeri, Vice President of Business and Corporate Development for Acronis."In addition, Acronis offers system and data recovery for physical and virtual environments, as well as deduplication in one solution. With Acronis, users have a complete and cost-effective protection solution, not only for their data, but also for their systems and applications."

The promotion is available on the Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Deduplication option which is compatible with the advanced editions of Acronis Backup & Recovery 10. The promotion runs until the end of March, and there is no limit to the number of licenses. To find out how much you could save with deduplication, visit Acronis' free deduplication calculator
